Detailed news

On Sunday, U.S. President Joe Biden withdrew his reelection candidacy and supported Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee, a decision that elicited reactions from leaders around the world.

Following a debate performance that was not well received, Biden was under pressure from his party members to withdraw from the campaign against former President Donald Trump.

Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, referred to Biden as a “partner to Canadians” and a “true friend.”

“I have been acquainted with President Biden for an extended period of time.” He is an exceptional individual, and his actions are consistently motivated by his devotion to his nation. He is a genuine ally and a colleague to Canadians in his capacity as President. In an Instagram post, Trudeau expressed his gratitude to President Biden and the First Lady.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his conviction that Biden made the decision in the best interest of the United States and expressed his eagerness to collaborate with him for the remainder of his presidency.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala recognized that Biden’s “difficult” decision was motivated by the United States’ overarching interests.

“Dear President @JoeBiden,. Poland, America, and the world are secure, and democracy is more robust, as a result of the numerous challenging decisions you have made. I am aware that you were motivated by the same factors when you made your final decision. Tusk wrote on the social media platform X, “Probably the most challenging one of your life.”

In the same vein, Fiala emphasized that Biden’s decision was “a responsible and personally challenging step, but it is all the more valuable.”

Biden was commended by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for acting in the best interests of the United States, as he has done throughout his public life.

Biden was hailed by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for his “unwavering support of Israel over the years.”

“Your unwavering support, particularly during the war, has been invaluable.” Gallant expressed his appreciation for your friendship and leadership on X.

Internationally, the Biden administration’s endorsement of Israel in its conflict with Hamas in Gaza resulted in a substantial loss of political capital, according to experts.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine also expressed his appreciation for Biden’s “unwavering support.”

“We will always be grateful for the leadership of President Biden.” He has assisted us in preventing Putin from occupying our country, supported our country during the most dramatic moment in history, and has continued to support us throughout this dreadful conflict,” he stated.

Biden stated in March that Kyiv could defeat Moscow if the United States continued to support Ukraine and provide it with the necessary armaments to defend itself. However, he refrained from deploying U.S. troops to Ukraine.

“A long period during which a lot can change,” stated Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, referring to the four months remaining until the elections.

According to a Google translation of his statement in Russian, Peskov stated to a Russian media outlet, “We must exercise patience and meticulously observe the consequences of the next events.”

The spokesperson was quoted as stating, “Our primary objective is to accomplish the objectives of the SVO [special military operation], not the outcomes of the U.S. elections.”

Biden was lauded by former President Barack Obama for his “outstanding track record” and was referred to as a “dear friend and partner.”

“It is one of the most difficult decisions of his life for him to evaluate the political landscape and determine that he should transfer the torch to a new nominee,” Obama wrote.
