- Donald Trump criticized Taylor Swift on Truth Social after her endorsement of Kamala Harris, stating, “I hate Taylor Swift!”
- Swift praised Harris as a steady leader and referenced derogatory comments about women in her endorsement post.
- Swift’s endorsement led to over 300,000 visits to Vote.gov, highlighting the potential impact of celebrity endorsements in politics.
On Sunday, former president Donald Trump directed his criticism toward musical icon Taylor Swift, who had endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris less than a week prior.

On Truth Social, the website owned by the Trump Media & Technology Group, Trump published in all capitals, “I hate Taylor Swift!”
Swift endorsed Harris in an Instagram post on Tuesday, immediately following the presidential debate between the two main party candidates.
Swift stated in the post, “I am of the opinion that she is a gifted and steady leader, and I am of the opinion that we can achieve a great deal more in this country if we are led by calm rather than chaos.” She also signed the caption as “childless cat lady,” a reference to Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance’s comments regarding Democratic women.
In the past, Trump had posted images on social media that were generated by artificial intelligence and depicted Swift and her followers endorsing him. Swift justified her public endorsement by referencing those types of images.
Even for figures as ubiquitous as Swift, the extent to which celebrity endorsements will influence the presidential race remains uncertain. Her post had directed over 300,000 visitors to Vote.gov, a government website that provides state-specific voting information, approximately one day after she endorsed Harris.
