Detailed news

Only a few short weeks after Elon Musk’s Tesla unveiled its Cybercab, Chinese rivals WeRide have upped the stakes by introducing a robotaxi that is larger and more roomy than its predecessor.

Capable of Managing Heavy Traffic
The GXR, which is being marketed as the most roomy robotaxi in the world, was just introduced by WeRide, which is one of the most prominent autonomous transportation businesses in China.
In accordance with Profit, the GXR, which was designed by WeRide utilizing its own proprietary hardware and software, provides passengers with an unmatched level of comfort while also placing an emphasis on safety and cutting-edge technology.

The automobile is fitted with the Sensor Suite 5.6 system, which is comprised of over twenty sensors, including high-performance LiDAR, high-definition cameras, and an innovative navigation system that offers a view that encompasses the whole 360 degrees.

Having this configuration means that the GXR is capable of handling high-speed driving, heavy traffic, and a variety of road conditions, even when it is nighttime. Additionally, the robotaxi is equipped with a high level of redundancy in its components, ranging from the chassis to the brake systems, in order to shield passengers from any potential failures and ensure their safety.

Served the General Public for a Year and a Half
The design of the GXR is one of its most notable characteristics; it does away with the front passenger seat, which results in more space within the vehicle. The length of the vehicle is 5,018 millimeters, and the total height of the internal cabin is 1,340 millimeters. This makes it one of the most capacious robotaxis that is now available.

In addition, the vehicle’s side-sliding doors, in conjunction with a concealed B-pillar, make it possible to have an entry width of 1,831 millimeters, which makes it simpler for passengers to reach the vehicle while carrying baggage.

More than 1,800 days of public operation have been amassed by WeRide, the majority of which have been spent in China and the Middle East, where it operates the largest robotaxi fleet. The GXR may be reserved using the company’s mobile application, which enables passengers to establish pick-up and drop-off locations for shorter journeys as well as extended holidays with their families.

As a result of the failure of Tesla’s Cybercab project, the company has fallen behind in the race for robotaxis. On the other hand, WeRide is establishing a new standard for the industry, alongside other industry leaders like as Waymo and Volkswagen.
