Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has recently made a legal move to establish some distance from her father, at least when it comes to her name.
On Monday, Shiloh celebrated her 18th birthday by taking legal action in Los Angeles County Superior Court. She filed a petition to remove the “Pitt” from her full name. The teenager, known as Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, reportedly wants to change her name to “Shiloh Nouvel Jolie,” according to the petition that The Times has reviewed.
The Times reached out for comment, but a response from Jolie’s representative was not received at the time of publication. Pitt’s representative declined to provide a comment regarding the petition.
Shiloh’s birth took place on May 27, 2006, in Swakopmund, Namibia. She holds the position of being the third-eldest among the six children of the former Hollywood power couple. Furthermore, she is the eldest of their three biological children. In addition, they have children named Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
In the midst of her parents’ bitter and protracted divorce, the voice actor for “Kung Fu Panda 3” has made a request to change her name. In September 2016, Jolie initiated divorce proceedings with her “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-star shortly after an alleged physical altercation occurred during a private plane flight back from Europe. According to an FBI report, it has been alleged that the incident involved the children of several actors. Through a lawsuit Jolie brought against the federal law enforcement organization in 2022, new details about the 2016 confrontation have come to light.
The ongoing legal disputes involving their Chateau Miraval winery and former family home complicate Jolie and Pitt’s protracted divorce even further. In February 2022, Pitt filed a lawsuit against Jolie and her company, Nouvel, claiming that she sold her portion of their winery without his consent, allegedly trying to gain profits that she hadn’t earned and returns on an investment she didn’t contribute to.
In October 2022, Jolie responded with a cross-complaint. In a recent development, her legal team has taken action by filing a motion to obtain Pitt’s communications. These communications are said to be related to an extensive nondisclosure agreement that is believed to be connected to a sale.
Jolie and Pitt have been legally unmarried since 2019, but they have not yet finalised the details of their divorce.
Shiloh is not the only Jolie-Pitt child who has decided to legally change their name. In fact, a few of her siblings have also made the decision to publicly drop their father’s last name in the past few years. Zahara confidently introduces herself as a proud member of the esteemed Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in a video that Essence recently shared. “I am Zahara Marley Jolie,” she exclaims amidst her poses.
In an intriguing turn of events, Vivienne, a 15-year-old, made a notable change to her Playbill credit for the recently premiered musical “The Outsiders.” She unexpectedly made the decision to remove the well-known last name “Pitt” from her credit, which happened to be a production that her own mother had produced. People earlier this week reported on this intriguing update.
