The New York Times (NYT) reported that Rupert Murdoch, who retired from Fox and News Corporation last year, married Elena Zhukova for the fifth time on Saturday at his Moraga wine estate in Bel Air, Los Angeles.
Leaving Media Empire
Murdoch retired as News Corp and Fox chairman last year after seven decades running a massive media empire. He had an impact on satellites, Hollywood studios, books, newspapers, and TV stations across three continents.
According to the Financial Times, Murdoch’s marriage to Zhukova is unlikely to influence the trust that holds 40% of News Corp and Fox’s voting shares.
Previous Marriages
Rupert Murdoch married Patricia Booker in 1956—his first. The marriage failed, and the pair divorced in 1967. They have one child. Murdoch married Anna Maria Torv, his second wife, that year. The couple had three kids. His divorce came in 1999, after almost 30 years of marriage. His marriage to Deng was in the same year; however, they divorced in 2013. They have two kids, too.

New England Patriots owner Robert K. Kraft and News Corp. CEO Robert Thomson were featured guests. The Daily Mail alleged last summer that Murdoch’s third wife, Wendi Deng, introduced the couple.

NYT reports that retired molecular biologist Zhukova, who came to the US from Moscow in 1991, was married to millionaire energy businessman Alexander Zhukov.

Zhukova’s marriages are less known. She met her first spouse, British citizen Alexander Zhukov, in the Soviet Union while studying. The New York Times said that their three-year marriage produced Dasha Zhukova, an entrepreneur and socialite.
