Detailed news

Ben Horowitz, a venture capitalist, has announced that he will be contributing to Vice President Kamala Harris’ election campaign, less than three months after he announced his intention to contribute to political action committees supporting Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, according to CNBC.

The tech investor revealed in a letter to Andreessen Horowitz employees that he and his wife, Felicia, have maintained a friendship with Harris for an extended period. The letter was initially reported on by Axios. The letter’s contents were verified by an individual who was in direct contact with the company and requested anonymity in order to speak candidly about the matter.

The purpose of this message is to provide you with an update on my political participation. Horowitz composed. “As I previously stated, Felicia and I have been acquainted with Vice President Harris for more than a decade, and she has been an exceptional friend to both of us.”

“Felicia and I will be making a substantial donation to entities that support the Harris Walz campaign as a consequence of our friendship,” Horowitz continued.

Before the 2024 election, Andreessen and Horowitz, who established their firm in 2009, have not announced any formal endorsements. Their financial backing of the Trump campaign was a result of their advocacy for a more effective “little tech agenda.”

“Our political endeavors as a company are entirely dedicated to the defense of Little Tech,” they stated in a blog post on July 5. “We refrain from participating in political disputes that are not directly related to Little Tech.”

Andreessen and Horowitz have been notably critical of the Biden administration and its stance on startups and cryptocurrency. Horowitz stated in his most recent correspondence that his confidence in Harris has been strengthened by his interactions with her and her team. However, he added that “the firm will not be revising its stance on this matter until they have disclosed their technology policy.”
