So the accurate framing is not “China’s AI beat America’s best.” It is narrower and, honestly, more interesting: an open model just pulled level with the top tier on some tasks, and pulled ahead on one. Why this matters, even if you never use it

It’s open, and that’s the whole point. Moonshot has said it will release K3’s full weights — the actual model file anyone can download and run — on July 27.
